I got my hands on a deluxe sample of Suki’s Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser through my September Sample Society box. It is a sugar and lemongrass formula, and smells absolutely amazing. It’s really thick and concentrated, and I initially thought that the sample felt sort of meager until I realized how little you need each time you use it. Suki recommends this for all skin types except those with cystic acne and rosacea-prone skin, and I’ll go ahead and say that I really enjoy this cleanser a lot.
This cleanser is a pretty dry, dense sugar scrub that needs to be mixed with a little bit of water before applying to skin. You only need a pinch, a little goes a long way. The scrub first feels like it’s power comes just from the abrasive quality, but after some time the sugar dissolves and the formula starts to gently foam. No big sudsy bubbles, just a really soft foam that cleanses but also feels a little soothing.
This rinses easily and reveals nearly squeaky-clean skin that isn’t dry. I’m so used to trying to avoid squeaky-clean and it really took me by surprise when my skin didn’t feel tight and irritated, just clean and healthy. It must have something to do with coconut oil being the second ingredient.
Suki advises that if you have very sensitive thin skin you should only exfoliate two to three times a week, but if your skin is not sensitive than you can exfoliate up to once per day. Personally, I don’t have particularly sensitive skin but I only use a manual exfoliator about once a week (I also use an AHA exfoliator once a week).
I like this cleanser and find it really enjoyable to use, and there’s plenty to like about the company as well. Suki as well as the company’s suppliers are cruelty-free, and many of the products are vegan. Products are made, poured, labeled and shipped from Massachusetts, and the company makes many efforts in its packaging and manufacturing to be environmentally kind. You can read more about Suki’s company practices on their website.
