These Infallible eye shadows are super cool. I love how these look on my eyes, and I even love the little clear pots they come in. These shadows are a little like a dense loose powder, and a plastic piece in the jar presses them so that they behave a bit more like a normal pressed shadow. I actually avoided purchasing these for a while because at around $8/each they’re more expensive than other drugstore shadows, but I really do love these and it’s difficult to hold back from grabbing more.
These three shades are all shimmery, and really have a nice sheen that I think is really flattering on the eye. They can be used wet for a stronger look, but generally I find it unnecessary to turn up the volume.
My favorite brush to apply these with is my Real Techniques shading brush. In general, I prefer to use eye brushes that are more soft and/or fluffy than they are dense. Because these shadows are looser than normal pressed shadows, denser brushes can inadvertently pick up more product than I intend.
L’Oreal claims 24-hour wear with these, and although I haven’t actually put that claim to the test, these do wear really nicely throughout the day. I wear them over my untinted Urban Decay Primer Potion, which is how I’m wearing all my eye shadow these days, and I don’t experience fading or creasing.
Here I’m wearing all three colors on my eyes. I started with Bronzed Taupe all over my lid and then layered Liquid Diamond on top on the inner 2/3 of my lid. Glistening Garnet is softly blended into the contour area, focused on the outer 1/3. To finish the eyes, I worked the dark brown shadow from the Lorac Uptown Allure palette (photos and review here) into the outer edge, and used the lightest shade from the same palette on my browbone above the garnet shadow. I used Urban Decay’s 24/7 eye liner in Corrupt (a dark brown) on my upper lash line as well as a coat of the the Sephora Collection Atomic Volume mascara (photos and review here).
I’m also wearing the Sephora Collection 10-Hour Wear Perfection foundation in shade 14 light delicate beige, Clarins Graphic Expression Face and Blush Powder, and Clarins Gloss Prodige lip gloss in 06 raspberry.
Update: I’ve also posted about two additional Infallible shades, Amber Rush and Iced Latte, here. Take a look to see more photos!
