Some of my fall favorites: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains

The Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains have been around for a while now, and many companies offer similar balmy lip crayons at a variety of price points. While Revlon’s offerings are not the cheapest (that honor would go to the new Jordana Twist & Shine Moisturizing Balm Stains, I believe), I have personally always been drawn to Revlon’s color selection. I love that they offer a few unique colors that are quite deep, and I’ve been looking forward to breaking those shades out and getting more use out of them during the colder months.

One of the bigger reasons why I’m naturally drawn to darker lip colors, despite my pale complexion, is that my lips are naturally pretty dark on their own. They have a reddish tone that competes with or completely overpowers lighter colored lip products, especially the more moisturizing kinds that tend to be more sheer and wear off quicker. These Kissable Balm Stains are pretty great for me because they have deeper colors, yet are still pretty moisturizing and long-wearing (and not a bad deal, either, especially if you can grab them on sale).

I own the four of the darker shades (Lovesick, Romantic, Adore and Crush) as well as one lighter shade (Cherish) that I experimented with just to see whether it’d work on me.

Cherish is the only one that looks kind of awkward on me, as I have to work to get the color built up and even then you can still see the redder tone of my lips trying to poke through. On folks with lighter lips, this is probably a really lovely everyday pink that pulls towards a cool lavender.

Lovesick, a rich rosy fuchsia, is a really pretty mood-lifter. I actually have a habit of wearing this on dreary, drizzly fall and spring days when the weather’s a downer. I think this kind of shade is pretty unique among the balmy lip crayon products across different brands because it’s just so darn bright.

Romantic is my most-used red lip color. It’s a rich red with a golden shine to it. That warm sheen is really attractive and makes the shade a little more unique and absolutely perfect for fall. I think it’s quite pretty and is a very easy red to wear during the daytime.

Adore was the first shade I purchased from this line. It’s kind of like a deeper, warmer and slightly browner-toned version of Romantic. It also has a really pretty golden sheen. If you look at the product in the tube you can see visible golden shimmers, though this doesn’t translate into a glittery lip. Most of the time I pat this gently on my lips to get a more subdued look from it, but when it’s applied a bit heavier it can make a statement. I love this for the color, but also because it always makes me think of the Smashing Pumpkins song.

Crush has become my favorite of the bunch. It is a deep raisin-berry shade that fades to a color that looks more like red grapes. I was a little scared of this shade when I first purchased it, but I’ve come to see just how great it is. It’s a wonderful color for evening, but I wear it during the day as well. Fall is the perfect time to get away with wearing a color this deep at all hours.

I had been keeping these Kissable Balm Stains in a drawer the past few months, but have definitely been looking forward to pulling them out and using them much more often! Romantic, Adore and Crush are especially perfect for this time of year. They usually cost around $9, but I try to pick them up on sale. You can find them at Ulta, Target, or basically any drugstore.

Do you have a favorite product to pull out of storage and take make use of during the fall?

I am usually not a lip stain person because I love a lot of color! However these lip stains look very pigmented! I loved your review!
