I’ve seen the displays of these new Sally Hansen Triple Shine nail colors popping up in a few different stores, but it wasn’t until about a week ago that I was compelled to purchase. Up until that point I had only seen partial color selections, but I finally found a full (and completely stocked!) display at Walgreens, and picked up #140 Drama Sheen to try. It’s a sizable collection of 29 colors divided into a few different types, including cream, glitter, and metallic shades. Drama sheen is an icy lavender with a flash of pink iridescence, which I found very enticing.
This particular color goes on very sheer, and I found that three coats looked about right. Three coats don’t create fully opaque color, but do offer an even and fully pigmented result. I do think the sheer quality looks intentional rather than faulty, though. I think the color looks ethereal, while my boyfriend commented that it makes me look like a princess. In general, I had trouble getting the pink iridescence to show up in photos, but you can definitely see it here:
I find the brush to be on the larger side and prone to picking up too much product if I’m not careful. I just focus on wiping the brush off well before applying to avoid goopiness (that’s the technical term). It dries pretty quickly, so three coats didn’t feel like too much of a hassle.
I have not added a top coat to my nails, and I even forgot to add a base coat. I’m going on 3 days with it on my nails, and I have to say I’m pretty impressed so far. The finish is very shiny (and remains so), and I’ve experienced what I would consider to be negligible wear on the tips of my nails, with no chips. That’s definitely better than average for me as nail polishes don’t tend to last terribly long on my nails, especially without the help of base and top coats.
I think this is a nice $5 nail color, and I’ll probably try additional colors from the Triple Shine line.
