Thanks to December’s Sample Society subscription box, I’ve had a chance to try out the Oscar Blandi Hair Lift, which is a really lovely volumizing mousse. It boasts ingredients like sodium hyaluronate for strengthening hair with moisture, a plumping polymer complex for thickness and style memory, and anti-static agents for eliminating flyaways. I’ve been using a quick spray of the mousse at the roots of my hair before blow drying, and I want to tell you a bit about it because it really is a fabulous product.
The deluxe sample is 1 ounce of product, and a full size will provide you with over 6 ounces. Like many volumizing products, this one is supposed to be aided by the addition of heat. I’ve been blow drying my hair normally after applying this, and I think that this really does give my hair a great boost of natural looking volume. I love it! I do try to use a very small amount of this and only work it into the roots of the hair rather than all throughout, and I don’t feel it in my hair after I dry it … there’s no residue that I can detect at all.
I can give you a visual for what this does to my hair.
I hope you’ll pardon the complete lack of makeup in the second photo.
I can use this mousse anytime and enjoy the effects, but I think it’s particularly perfect for very natural days when I don’t feel like using products that offer added texture and style. I can definitely get some volume from my Davines No. 5 Mat Pliable Stucco or my Schwarzkopf Osis Dust It mattifying powder (review here), but they also create a much more styled look. If I’m just hanging around the house, I kind of want something more natural and the Hair Lift gives me the volume all by itself. In the photos above, I had just used a bit of smoothing cream (L’Oreal’s EverStyle Smooth & Shine) throughout the rest of my hair for a little bit of frizz control, softness, and heat protection.
All in all, I love it and I’d totally buy it! For the moment, I’m still working my way through the sample, but I’ll miss it when I run out.
Have you tried it? What’s your favorite volumizing product?
