I recently received my first purchase from Fyrinnae in the mail, and I’ve been enjoying playing around with them. Two of the eye shadows I picked out were Sloth Snuggles and Monarch Butterfly, both of which were from their 2012 Endangered collection. Fyrinnae has a really strong reputation, and I’m pleased to say that the products I’ve purchased have been living up to my high expectations!
These are loose eyeshadows available in mini jars for $2.25 or full sized jars for $6.25. I tend to spring for mini sizes simply because it allows me to try more things for a smaller cost, but the full sized price tag is certainly very reasonable.
Sloth Snuggles is a shimmery medium chocolate brown with mauve tones, and Monarch Butterfly is a very deep smoky brown with a reddish copper glow that’s especially apparent with the help of a little moisture or glitter glue. In the photo below, the left swatch is dry and the right swatch is over Fyrinnae’s Pixie Epoxy. These aren’t shadows that are in dire need of a glitter adhesive like Pixie Epoxy, but I had just purchased it in the same order and was playing around with it for the first time. You can see that for these particular shadows, the adhesive makes them come across with deeper color and stronger warmth.
When I’ve been applying them to my eyes, I’ve just been using my regular Urban Decay Primer Potion. These apply with fantastic pigmentation. I take care to not apply them too strongly, just because I’ve been wearing them during the day and they’re both darker colors. I’ve worn them paired together a couple of times, but obviously each of them would work with a variety of other colors, as well.
I have Sloth Snuggles all over my lid with Monarch Butterfly lightly blended into the crease and outer corners. I think that Sloth Snuggles is sublimely easy to work with. Monarch Butterfly is a little dangerous just because it really is a very dark color, but it also blends really well. So, when I accidentally drew it on too heavily in my crease, it didn’t take too much work for me to soften it in a controlled manner. I don’t experience any noticeable creasing or fading throughout the day.
Above, I’m also wearing: DreamWorld Hermetica powder foundation in Rhea II C (review). L’Oreal True Match crayon concealer in N1-2-3 (review), DreamWorld Hermetica finishing powder in Whipped Peach Creme (review), a light-handed blend of Fyrinnae Nordic Angel and Maybelline Master Hi-Light blush in Light Bronze on my cheeks (reviews for both of those are coming soon), Maybelline Eye and Brow pencil in Blonde, L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly mascara in Blackest Black (review) and a little bit of plain lip balm.
I’m extremely pleased with these, and I’ll be purchasing more shadows from Fyrinnae in the future. Both Sloth Snuggles and Monarch Butterfly and pretty, versatile colors. And how cute is the name “Sloth Snuggles”?
Have you tried any of Fyrinnae’s shadows? Are there any must-haves you’d recommend?
