I love redeeming Sephora points for mascara minis when I can, because I use mascara every day. As long as the mascara ends up being decent, then the reward definitely ends up saving me money. I’ve had several different minis sitting around from recent Sephora orders including the Sephora Collection LashCraft Big Volume, and it reminded me that while a lot of the Sephora Collection products are easy to walk right by, many of them are really great and totally worth checking out.
This is a $14 mascara that has a curved, hourglass-shaped natural bristle wand and a volume-building formula. It seems pretty all-purpose to me, though, because the volume doesn’t come all at once with one swipe of the wand, it can be built as you like. I thought it made a fantastic everyday mascara because I could apply a lighter or heavier amount as I wanted, and it added both length and volume to my lashes. Plus, it really lasted well throughout the day with very little smudging under the eye during a day’s wear. I wear a lot of moisturizer and smudging is a common problem for me, and I thought this mascara did a great job.
I like the wand and was able to apply it easily without getting mascara on my eyelids. The mascara does an average job with maintaining a curl and it isn’t the blackest-black formula out there, so there’s some room for improvement, but I’ve been genuinely very happy with it and have added it to my Sephora Loves list so that I remember it in the future.
Here I’m wearing one coat of it, which looks pretty natural.
I opened LashCraft Big Volume before my Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara mini, which is another Sephora reward I’ve redeemed recently and it has a similar wand shape to LashCraft Big Volume. I had figured after hearing so many good things about that Too Faced mascara that it would be a step up from the Sephora. It’s also significantly more expensive at $23. However, I just opened Better Than Sex mini a few days ago and I’m actually kind of disappointed because it takes much longer to dry once applied and it definitely smudges more on me throughout the day than the Sephora mascara does. I’m pretty shocked.
Have you tried this one? Did you enjoy it as much as I did? I’d love to hear!
