I’m a big fan of oil-based balms for my skin, both for my face and my body. So, I was really happy to be able to try the balm by Taui, who make a simple product with organic and sustainable ingredients. This is a balm formulated with organic extra virgin olive oil, beeswax, propolis, bee pollen, and royal jelly, and everything’s handmade in Portland, Oregon by a two-person team. A little bonus is that the balm is available in both a 2-ounce glass jar for $20 or a 1-ounce plastic tube for $13, which means I have a jar that lives in my bathroom cabinet and a tube that lives in my travel bag for weekend trips.
Honestly, I think this is a really lovely product, and it’s well-suited for both the tube and jar packaging. I haven’t experienced any melting, leaking, separating, or anything like that. The texture is soft and smooth, so it’s super pleasant to use and doesn’t require warming up in order to spread evenly over skin. It melts pretty effortlessly.
I’ve used this for a few weeks now and my skin reacts really well to it. At the moment I’m using as a last step on my face as well as on my hands and elbows in the evening, and on my lips and cuticles as I’m about to leave the house in the morning. It can feel substantial on the skin since I apply liberally, but it’s fairly flexible and can be thinned out and patted in, as well. It’s highly protective and conditioning for the skin. And, I love having a multipurpose product like this with me when I travel because my skin can get irritated and dry during those times, so the convenient plastic tube is something that I really appreciate and find very useful.
I love that a product like this is available from a brand that values an organic and handmade approach. I also think the price is very fair. It’s cheaper than some alternatives while still providing a very similar texture, experience, and result. I’m a big fan! Check them out at here.
