I’ve talked about movies a couple times on the blog before, but I’ve never done any sort of year-end favorites post before. But, I thought it might be a fun thing to try. My husband and I see a lot of movies – we subscribe to Movie Pass, a monthly deal for seeing movies in the theater, and we make good use of it. We don’t actually have normal television or cable channels at home, but we do stream television shows through Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon, so I thought some shows would be a fun thing to throw in the mix.
Last year around Halloween, I talked about my favorite horror movies that were on Netflix. Netflix always shuffles around their streaming content and a number of those movies are no longer available, so I’ve tried to find a few new fun ones. I’d also love to hear what you’ve found and enjoyed, as I’m sure that I’m missing some good ones.
While in Spain and Portugal, we debated whether we had the time to also visit Morocco. It was tempting because it was so close by, but we knew we didn’t have the time to see a whole lot. We ended up hopping over and spending 3 days in Marrakech, and although we definitely are interested in seeing other parts of Morocco in the future, we ended up feeling like we had enough time to do Marrakech justice!
We just recently returned from our trip and I brought home a few beauty-related goodies. I wanted to quickly show some of the things I picked up, and at the same time I can show a few photos of our trip! I found a few fun beauty, home, and fragrance things in Spain and Portugal, including both new cosmetics and more traditional products.
I’m not the biggest Halloween-er, but I really enjoy horror movies and see this season as a great opportunity to catch up on some of them. I hesitate to venture off the normal beauty blog topics, but I much prefer a good movie to hand-making a costume or mixing up a pumpkin spice lip scrub and this is just my way of celebrating Halloween. I tend to enjoy Netflix’s horror offerings (and I don’t have cable, so it’s my best resource) but the trick is that their selection of streaming movies is ever-changing, so I’ve been going through their site and trying to get a handle on what awesome new movies are up and available to stream.
I sort of stopped posting on the blog without notice, so I just wanted to stop in and say a bit about where I’ve been. I’m in the middle of a vacation to northern India and miscalculated my ability to continue posting while away. The challenges have been both a shortage of free time as well as frequent lack of internet access. We’re having tons of fun, though! Here are just a few photos from the trip so far.
Happy Sunday! Today I wanted to do something simple and just share the delightfully adorable images of some Nordic waterfowl. This past summer I took a vacation through Scandinavia and enjoyed a whole bunch of fun animals at Skansen, an outdoor park in Stockholm. The geese in the park were friendly and calm, and actually didn’t seem to be begging for food at all, which struck me as unusually polite and pleasant.
This week I paid a visit to my nearby Target and was very excited to see two things: that all of the Easter sweets were on full display, and that the beauty aisles had been entirely revamped. I kept my purchases to springtime desserts for the time being, but I spent some serious time exploring the new makeup and skincare offerings, too.
I really like waterfowl. When I was in art school I frequently used bird imagery in my work, and I managed to reference one in the name of this blog. I consider the loon a mascot of the blog, but I don’t mean to leave out the other pretty birds. Wintering waterfowl pay a visit to the Northwest in January and February, and my boyfriend and I recently went out to Skagit, Washington to see if we could catch a view of some swans.
Hey guys, let me introduce you to Carmen! She’s all about the holidays. We aren’t the kind of people to dress our cats up in reindeer getup (yet), but they sure do enjoy all of the boxes, bows and tissue paper. Hope you’re having fun, too!
