Too Cool For School Pumpkin 24K Gold, Coconut, Essentials, and Egg Cream sleeping/sheet masks

By on May 18, 2017
Too Cool For School masks: Pumpkin 24K Gold, Coconut Oil Serum, Coconut Ceramide, Multivitamin Vitamin A, Multivitamin Vitamin E, Egg Cream Firming, Egg Cream Hydration

I have a bunch of Too Cool For School masks that I’ve been using, all in the $4-9 range, and so I wanted to talk about them all in one place. I’m lucky enough to have a Too Cool For School storefront nearby in New York City but the Egg Cream masks are also available at Sephora, while the rest of the others are definitely available from various places online (particularly Amazon). I’ve become a bit of a sheet and sleeping mask nut and really enjoyed trying all of these from a fun brand like Too Cool For School.

YADAH Cosmetics: Brightening Ampoule and Angel BB Cream

By on March 17, 2017
YADAH Angel BB Cream ($8.77) and Brightening Ampoule ($23)

YADAH Cosmetics is a brand I hadn’t heard of until recently, but I’m excited about the couple of products I’ve tried because they’re quite nice and very affordable. And how cute is the branding on the packaging? YADAH is a Korean cosmetics and skincare brand focused on gentle, hypoallergenic, and plant-based formulations, with products available on the BB Cosmetic website. I’ve been trying their Brightening Ampoule with niacinamide and Angel BB Cream with SPF 20/PA++.

Korean cosmetics shopping: Innisfree, Too Cool For School

By on March 2, 2017
Innisfree and Too Cool For School purchases

I’ve recently done some shopping from both Innisfree and Too Cool For School. I’ve had a great experience with Innisfree in the past and just try to wait for the website to introduce attractive deals before ordering. Too Cool For School is a little less convenient to order at the moment, though Sephora has begun selling some of their products relatively recently. However, they have a flagship store in Soho, New York City, that I recently visited for the first time and I was able to take advantage of a deal.

Dr.Ci:Labo Enrich-Lift skincare set: Cleansing Cream, Up Lotion, Aqua-Collagen-Gel, UV & White SPF 50+, and BB Perfect Cream SPF 40

When I was in Japan, one of the skincare bits I picked up was this little set from Dr.Ci:Labo that includes samples and minis of five different products. This has given me a chance to try out the Cleansing Cream EX, Up Lotion, Aqua-Collagen-Gel EX, UV & White SPF 50+, and the BB Perfect Cream SPF 40, all from the Enrich-Lift product line. This is a doctor-developed brand focused on product efficacy and simplicity, formulated for all skin types including sensitive skin, and the products exclude fragrance, coloring, mineral oil, and parabens.

That time I visited Tokyo for New Year’s and bought a lot of stuff

By on January 16, 2017
Some of my Tokyo cosmetic purchases

My husband and I just came back from our second trip to Tokyo, where we spent New Year’s in the middle of visiting both of our families for the holidays. Having gained some level of familiarity with Japanese cosmetics brands since our first visit last year, and having restrained my cosmetic purchases fairly well over the past year, I basically went in feeling ready to buy some stuff. The added bonus was learning about and having my first experience with fukubukuro, or “lucky bags” of products that lots of Japanese retailers put out for New Year’s sales.

Quick review: Integrate Magical Lash Curl mascara

By on June 8, 2016
Integrate
Integrate Magical Lash Curl Mascara ($15-18)

In my last post I mentioned that an Integrate mascara had ended up being my favorite mascara of the three that I picked up while in Japan. That being the case, it’s only fitting that I share a few photos to show you what I mean. The box is entirely in Japanese, but based on some internet reading I believe that it’s called Magical Lash Curl with Curl Enhancing Fibers. That seems like a fitting name, anyway.

6 products from the Re’au Botanical Plus skincare line

By on March 2, 2016
Re'au Botanical Plus A
Re’au Botanical Plus A firming lift cream (rich moist)

When I was in Japan I was very close to running out of moisturizer, so I figured that while I was shopping around I might as well specifically look for one. A Tokyu Hands associate showed me the Re’au line, letting me know it was very natural and that I’d notice tighter skin within just 2 weeks. In addition to purchasing the cream, I was also given samples of the rest of the brand’s line, as well, and had the chance to try all 6 products that the store offered.

A trip to Japan, and some skincare and makeup purchases

Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo, Japan
Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo, Japan

We just returned from one of our favorite places, ever. After spending some time with my husband’s family in Taiwan and enjoying some wedding festivities, we enjoyed a stopover with Japan Airlines and spent 10 days in Japan. It was our first time there, and we left playfully chatting about what we need to do in order to move to Tokyo. We spent our time in Osaka, Kyoto, and Tokyo, plus we took a trip to Koyasan to spend a night in a temple.

Banila Co. Clean It Zero cleansing cream

Banila Co. Clean It Zero cleansing cream ($21 for 100 ml)
Banila Co. Clean It Zero cleansing cream ($21 for 100 ml)

For the past few months I’ve been using an extremely lovely makeup removing balm from Banila Co. called Clean It Zero. It’s a really popular Korean option that I purchased at The Yeon in Flushing, Queens, but is also readily available online. They call it a sherbet cleanser, which is very apt – it’s solid but has a really light and silky texture, and it emulsifies once you add water.
