It’s buying season and I recently ordered some of the special releases from Colourpop, including the My Little Pony eyeshadow palette ($16), My Little Pony Super Shock Eyeshadow in Posey ($5), and the Element of Surprise eyeshadow palette ($16). Both of these collections feature very attractive shades and there are definitely some really interesting shadows in both. Beyond that, I continue to be really pleased with the quality of Colourpop eyeshadows.
ColourPop released a set of crystal-inspired products recently and I went ahead and placed a small order the day I received the promotional email about the launch. I didn’t go crazy, I just decided to get the Aquamarine shade of the Crystal Liquid Highlighter to try the formula out. At this point most of the stuff is out of stock on the website, but as I write this Aquamarine is the only Crystal Liquid Highlighter that’s still available. I think people may be underestimating the beauty of a bluish highlight, though, because I think it’s really nice.
BH Cosmetics Marble Collection in Warm Stone, Supernova Baked Eyeshadows, and Blacklight Highlight Palette: Swatches & ReviewBy Erin on April 27, 2017
I’ve had some really good luck with BH Cosmetics lately and recently saw that they launched some fun new stuff for the spring season. I have three new palettes that I’ve bought: the Marble Collection in Warm Stone featuring 12 eyeshadows ($11.99), the Supernova 18 Color Baked Eyeshadow Palette ($15.99), and the Blacklight Highlight 6 Color Palette ($16.99). These are each quite different from each other, but all have their own unique appeal. I’d like to share some swatches and thoughts on all three.
This is a big deal for me—it’s the very first time I bought myself some Sugarpill. I received an email notification from them on February 1 about a new Valentine’s release, and had submitted my order less than 24 hours later. The Feline Fancy collection is priced at $48 and comes with a 4-color eyeshadow palette, a liquid lip color, and some flipping adorable art on the packaging. It arrived at my home on February 13th which meant I could actually start playing around with it on Valentine’s Day.
I finally bit the bullet and placed my first ColourPop order and purchased the To And From Lippie Stix holiday set, the Sweet eyeshadow and Ultra Satin Lip holiday set, and a couple of single products, which all together totals 8 lip colors, 3 eyeshadows, and 1 highlighter. Over the past couple of years of resisting the hype over this brand, I’ve noticed that their holiday sets seem to be the most attractive to me and so this time around I jumped on a couple of them pretty early in the season. Here are some swatches and early thoughts.
I ordered from Makeup Geek weeks ago because I was pretty excited about the MannyMUA palette that they’d released. Ahead of the launch I tried to refine a little wish list so I would be able to throw a few more things in the cart without thinking much, as well. All told, I walked away with the palette, 5 single eyeshadows, 2 blushes, a gel eyeliner and a brush.
I’ve had a little wish list going on Fyrinnae’s website for a while, and since my birthday was at the end of July I thought I’d grab myself a few things. I bought 10 products in total and received a free shadow sample, as well. A few of these shades are newer to Fyrinnae’s lineup, and some of them are cult favorites. I’m also trying two shadows from their Arcane Magic line for the first time.
I love reaching for bright colors, but I also generally try to figure out simple ways to use them. A more involved routine will allow me to create richer looks, but simple tricks help me incorporate colors into my look more often and with less fuss. I’ve been meaning to use Concrete Minerals’ Juvenile, a cool vibrant yellow, now that summer’s in full swing and I’ve realized that my sample of Kinky makes a fun pairing with it.
I recently wrote about blush and highlight from Shiro Cosmetics, and today I’m chatting about the products that most influenced my first purchase from their site – their Game of Thrones-themed eyeshadow collection. Are you excited about the season 5 finale?! I think it’s nice to have some makeup to play with to fill the void once the show is off until next year, and today I have five full-sized jars as well as two samples to write about: Little Bird, I Loved a Maid, Climbing Chaos, Women’s Weapons, Maiden Queen, Mother of Dragons, Salt and Stone, and No Men Like Me.
I have been meaning to talk about Concrete Minerals for a while now, and today I want to share the eyeshadows that I purchased this past Black Friday. Concrete Minerals is a vegan, cruelty-free indie brand that offers a huge selection of loose eyeshadows and their formula is really, really nice. The shades I’m chatting about today are Lolita, Vanity, Rocked, Juvenile, Ruse, Mad Hatter, Arsenic, Nocturne, Bat-Breaker, Wicked, and Tinseltown.
