Prior to about a month ago, I think I had only tried one product from Milani Cosmetics, and it was their single most famous product: the Baked Blush in Luminoso. But really, they aren’t sold in all drugstores and I just don’t get a ton of exposure to the brand. I recently took a good look at their website because I had become curious about some of their new releases, and in the end I purchased some solid basics, including their Baked Bronzer in 09 Dulce, which is a newly released shade, the Stay Put Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil in 01 Linked on Black, the Stay Put Brow Color in 01 Soft Brown, and the Easybrow Tinted Fiber Gel in 04 Brunette.
It looks like EcoTools has come out with some new brushes, including this bronzing and highlighting duo for $11.99. The new line is marked by updated handles and ferules, and I thought that these two looked like brushes that I could use in my collection. They’re soft and fluffy, and I feel like over time EcoTools has been getting better with their brush shapes and the taper of the bristles. These are also vegan, tree-free, and utilize recycled materials including handles made of recycled bamboo.
I made some orders with Zoeva and BH Cosmetics, and was spurred on by a makeup brush clean-out and a sale. Zoeva was the big one that I’ve been thinking about for a while, and finally put together an order of brushes and makeup to make the international shipping worth it. BH Cosmetics, on the other hand, won me over with a sale and some interesting new products on the site.
Happy 2015! I wanted to take a moment and talk about some of my favorite products I’ve been using over the past year. I’m starting with makeup picks and then moving on to skincare and body care, and I like the exercise of narrowing a list down to ten – it really makes me focus on the things I was most excited to experience for the first time and continue to reach for on a daily basis.
I use Too Faced’s Chocolate Soleil bronzer a lot. I’ve mentioned it a time or two on the blog, but I wanted to give it a little more attention and explain why I like it so much. Too Faced has a huge selection of bronzers, and Chocolate Soleil is a classic matte golden brown. While they offer a lighter Milk Chocolate variety, I find that the original works well for me most of the time, even though I have fairly light skin.
These Face Studio Master Hi-Light blushes and bronzers are new releases from Maybelline that come in woven patterns of a few different shades that get swirled together to create one luminous color. It took me a while to buy one because there are two things throwing me off: I don’t find them to be very attractively packaged, and the shade selection wasn’t really grabbing me. I finally heard enough praise for these, though, and had to go try one out.
For the past week, my allergies have been really acting up and I’ve been cutting back a little on my makeup. I’ve been mostly focusing on trying to make myself look more healthy and awake than I really feel. One product I’ve been pulling out of my drawer every day to help with this is my Too Faced Pink Leopard Blushing Bronzer, which provides skin with a light color and gentle shimmer. I found this little mini size of it this summer at Nordstrom Rack over the summer, and I find it to be an easy and flattering powder to pop on my cheeks when I want a bit of luminosity.
