I’ve taken an inadvertent break from the blog but wanted to mention a handful of things I’ve landed on and have been really enjoying. The truth is that while I still buy stuff occasionally, I’m not doing it with the same hunger and frequency as I have in the past. That means I’m sitting with each product over a longer and more consistent period of time, and really trying to use things up before moving on. Here are about 10 skincare, makeup, and hair care products I’ve had great luck with and are very fond of right now.
It looks like EcoTools has come out with some new brushes, including this bronzing and highlighting duo for $11.99. The new line is marked by updated handles and ferules, and I thought that these two looked like brushes that I could use in my collection. They’re soft and fluffy, and I feel like over time EcoTools has been getting better with their brush shapes and the taper of the bristles. These are also vegan, tree-free, and utilize recycled materials including handles made of recycled bamboo.
I made some orders with Zoeva and BH Cosmetics, and was spurred on by a makeup brush clean-out and a sale. Zoeva was the big one that I’ve been thinking about for a while, and finally put together an order of brushes and makeup to make the international shipping worth it. BH Cosmetics, on the other hand, won me over with a sale and some interesting new products on the site.
I’m not normally the type to remark on the passage of time, but February went by really quickly for me. I had a major work event, flew around the US a couple of times, and then flew off to Europe for a vacation, which is where I am now! I have a handful of really great products that I finished up this month, including skincare, hand care, and a makeup brush that I’m tossing.
I visited several countries in Asia this summer and have been saving up my purchases to talk about them all together now that I’m back. Asia has some great shopping – the photo above is from Singapore’s Orchard Road, a Vegas-like strip of 27 beautiful shopping malls. I mostly bought skincare because it was my first proper opportunity to try out the Asian brands I hear about every so often on the internet, but there are a few makeup products sprinkled in the mix, as well.
I was walking through Walgreens sometime in January when I spotted this Eco Tools brush set, priced at $7.99. The Skin Perfecting brush is a new release from Eco Tools, and it caught my eye because the shape reminded me of the (much more expensive) Wayne Goss Brush 01. I haven’t personally tried the Goss brush and I do not have a similarly shaped brush in my collection, so this seemed like a nice one to experiment with.
Starting this Friday, September 27th, Crown Brush will be featured on Hautelook, Nordstrom’s flash sale site. Hautelook always brings in fun products for their Beauty category, and I’ve seen Crown Brush make appearances every now and then. I caught another sale on the site three or four months ago and got my hands on this 10-piece Italian Badger brush set, which I’ve really been enjoying. I’d love to share a few thoughts on the brushes in the set and hopefully help you decide whether a similar set might be right for you.
