I bought the Milk Makeup Flex Concealer ($28) after using and loving their Sunshine Skin Tint SPF 30 when I ran out of my Sephora Collection Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer, which is a similar kind of liquid concealer packaged a with doe foot wand. One of the things I really enjoyed about the Skin Tint was that although it had a luminous finish, it seemed to have a surprisingly elastic, long-lasting quality once it set on the skin, and the Flex Concealer is explicitly marketed as a hydrating formula that bends with skin throughout the day.
BH Cosmetics Marble Collection in Warm Stone, Supernova Baked Eyeshadows, and Blacklight Highlight Palette: Swatches & ReviewBy Erin on April 27, 2017
I’ve had some really good luck with BH Cosmetics lately and recently saw that they launched some fun new stuff for the spring season. I have three new palettes that I’ve bought: the Marble Collection in Warm Stone featuring 12 eyeshadows ($11.99), the Supernova 18 Color Baked Eyeshadow Palette ($15.99), and the Blacklight Highlight 6 Color Palette ($16.99). These are each quite different from each other, but all have their own unique appeal. I’d like to share some swatches and thoughts on all three.
I’ve been buying some more stuff. A few basics, a few replacements of similar products I’m running out of, and a few nice-to-haves. I’ve been trying a couple of products for a couple of weeks now but most of it is brand new and I’m just starting to try out the different bits. I have some cleansing products and makeup from Sephora, lip colors from MAC, and some natural bath and body from Whole Foods.
Over 2016 I generally reduced the amount of cosmetics that I purchased and really scrutinized new releases, which means that a Beauty Loon year-end wrap up can be quite succinct and focused. There were a few specific brands that became new loves for me, so you’ll see some brands repeat in my product picks, and I’ve gone ahead and broken down the favorites into 10 product categories. Ok, let’s go!
I’ve found myself reaching for the same base makeup products nearly everyday when I’m getting ready for work, many of which are affordable, and all of which have been working really well for me. Most of them have only been mentioned in passing on the blog, but deserve a little more attention. So, here are the primer and complexion basics, as well as a mascara, that I’ve been loving recently.
Last week I saw someone on YouTube mention BH Cosmetics, and I realized that I’d just about completely forgotten about the brand! As someone who prefers to buy affordable and cruelty-free makeup, there’s a lot to love about them, and the only reason I don’t buy more from them is probably the simple fact that I have to remember to check them out online. There were a few basics that I was in need of, so I went ahead and placed an order that afternoon.
Over the past year, I did a lot of traveling, moved across the country, and got married, which sometimes got in the way of trying lots of new products. After quitting birth control last fall, I also spent much of the year struggling with new hormonal acne woes, which at times kept me from feeling super motivated when it came to certain kinds of experimentation. However, as I was going through all of the products I tried over the last year I was surprised at how easy it was to identify a bunch of standout products that made a big impact on me and became staples in my collection.
After being away for several weeks, I’m feeling very behind on sharing what products I’ve been trying out. After having been on that trip, however, I definitely have some good stuff that I took with me and have been appreciating. All but one of them are from the drugstore, and I have a little mix of skincare and makeup.
I’ve been having a lot of days where I don’t feel the need to wear a full face of makeup and have been figuring out how minimal to go. I can easily get sucked into the 30+ minute routine because once I add some foundation coverage, then I need to add bronzer to add dimension back to my face, and then I need blush to liven up my cheeks, and then I need brows and lashes in order to balance it out, and … it starts to get out of hand really quickly. However, on the days when I really want to get out the door quickly and look natural, here are the 3 products I reach for.
I’ve recently moved to a new city and am currently looking for a new job, so theoretically I shouldn’t be shopping. I’ve continued to grab things here and there, though, and so recently I’ve been doing monthly purchase roundups because I tend to end up with a decent pile of new things to share. I’ve bought goodies from Lush, Sephora, Harmons, The Yeon, and CVS and will share some first impressions and swatches.
