I’ve been buying some more stuff. A few basics, a few replacements of similar products I’m running out of, and a few nice-to-haves. I’ve been trying a couple of products for a couple of weeks now but most of it is brand new and I’m just starting to try out the different bits. I have some cleansing products and makeup from Sephora, lip colors from MAC, and some natural bath and body from Whole Foods.
I’ve recently done some shopping from both Innisfree and Too Cool For School. I’ve had a great experience with Innisfree in the past and just try to wait for the website to introduce attractive deals before ordering. Too Cool For School is a little less convenient to order at the moment, though Sephora has begun selling some of their products relatively recently. However, they have a flagship store in Soho, New York City, that I recently visited for the first time and I was able to take advantage of a deal.
This is a big deal for me—it’s the very first time I bought myself some Sugarpill. I received an email notification from them on February 1 about a new Valentine’s release, and had submitted my order less than 24 hours later. The Feline Fancy collection is priced at $48 and comes with a 4-color eyeshadow palette, a liquid lip color, and some flipping adorable art on the packaging. It arrived at my home on February 13th which meant I could actually start playing around with it on Valentine’s Day.
Over 2016 I generally reduced the amount of cosmetics that I purchased and really scrutinized new releases, which means that a Beauty Loon year-end wrap up can be quite succinct and focused. There were a few specific brands that became new loves for me, so you’ll see some brands repeat in my product picks, and I’ve gone ahead and broken down the favorites into 10 product categories. Ok, let’s go!
I finally bit the bullet and placed my first ColourPop order and purchased the To And From Lippie Stix holiday set, the Sweet eyeshadow and Ultra Satin Lip holiday set, and a couple of single products, which all together totals 8 lip colors, 3 eyeshadows, and 1 highlighter. Over the past couple of years of resisting the hype over this brand, I’ve noticed that their holiday sets seem to be the most attractive to me and so this time around I jumped on a couple of them pretty early in the season. Here are some swatches and early thoughts.
I have one more batch of purchases to share, and this time it’s indie cosmetics from three different brands: Shiro, Detrivore, and Femme Fatale. This was really all one order from Shiro Cosmetics, though, as they sell what seems to be a growing collection of other small brands, and I love that I can combine the different brands in one order and only worry about reaching one shipping threshold. I bought highlights, blushes, eyeshadows, a nail polish, and a tinted lip balm.
I’ve had a little wish list going on Fyrinnae’s website for a while, and since my birthday was at the end of July I thought I’d grab myself a few things. I bought 10 products in total and received a free shadow sample, as well. A few of these shades are newer to Fyrinnae’s lineup, and some of them are cult favorites. I’m also trying two shadows from their Arcane Magic line for the first time.
In my recent Innisfree order I picked up two of these Eco Flower Tints that had been sitting on my wish list. They offer five different shades in this line, each named after flowers, and I grabbed the reddish pink Rose and vibrant orange Calendula. Innisfree carries three different liquid tint formulas and the Eco Flower Tint advertises a moisturizing cream texture, which definitely appeals to me because I have chronically dry lips!
I’ve just received my first online order with Innisfree in the mail and I’m so excited to dive in. Innisfree is a Korean brand that I first experienced when I was in Taiwan, and soon after purchasing a few small items in-store I began working on an online wish list. Once I’d gotten to a point where I was in need of a skincare product or two, I decided it was time to jump online and add some items to my cart. I ended up purchasing a wide range of skincare bits as well as a few makeup items.
So, technically, I’m not really supposed to be shopping. I’m trying to take a break after traveling and moving. Still, I’ve been picking up some items here and there and have a little bundle of new stuff I can share, and including makeup, skincare, nail polish, hair care, and bath products – a little bit of everything.
