I’ve taken an inadvertent break from the blog but wanted to mention a handful of things I’ve landed on and have been really enjoying. The truth is that while I still buy stuff occasionally, I’m not doing it with the same hunger and frequency as I have in the past. That means I’m sitting with each product over a longer and more consistent period of time, and really trying to use things up before moving on. Here are about 10 skincare, makeup, and hair care products I’ve had great luck with and are very fond of right now.
LUSH Rub Rub Rub salt scrub, Celestial moisturizer, Charity Pot body lotion, and Yellow Submarine bath bombBy Erin on September 17, 2018
It’s been a while since I’ve talked about Lush, and it’s because it had actually been a while since I walked into a store and bought something. After paying a visit this summer, I ended up with some pretty classic stuff, all of which I’d never actually purchased before. I got a pot of the Rub Rub Rub salt scrub ($22.95 for 11.6 oz.), Celestial facial moisturizer for sensitive skin ($26.95 for 1.5 oz.), Charity Pot hand and body lotion ($7.95 for 1.7 oz.), and a Yellow Submarine bath bomb ($5.95) And, they’ve all been really great for my dryish, sensitive skin over the past few months.
Happy October, guys! I have a bundle of skincare and makeup products, plus a few other home bits, that I used up this past month. I have both hits and misses here, some American products, some Korean products, and some cruelty-free products. I’ll quickly talk through what I thought of each one!
This month I used up a lot of skincare, as well as a hand cream. There’s all kinds of stuff here – cleansers, masks, lotions, serums, and a toner, as well as both budget and luxury products. I’ll quickly run through them here and say whether they were hits or misses!
I’ve recently moved to a new city and am currently looking for a new job, so theoretically I shouldn’t be shopping. I’ve continued to grab things here and there, though, and so recently I’ve been doing monthly purchase roundups because I tend to end up with a decent pile of new things to share. I’ve bought goodies from Lush, Sephora, Harmons, The Yeon, and CVS and will share some first impressions and swatches.
Since this past fall, I have been using henna in my hair in the form of Lush’s pre-mixed Caca Rouge and have really enjoyed the results. When I was in Morocco this spring I decided to buy some pure henna powder to take back with me and experiment with, and I recently dipped in for the first time. This required me to mix up some kind of recipe, and so I wanted to share what I did, what the results were, and how it compares to my previous experience with Caca Rouge.
Another month gone, so here comes another summary of the products I finished up. I mostly worked through some skincare in March, as I’ve been traveling and haven’t been reaching for a ton of different makeup products lately. I got to the bottom of a handful of nice products, so let’s chat a bit about about each one of them.
I had some fun recently at Sephora and LUSH and wanted to share the new stuff I’m trying out. I had a couple of products I wanted to return to Sephora and I took the opportunity to pick out a few more fun things, and I had a few necessities I wanted to pick out from Lush. I can talk about my first impressions and share a few swatches, as well.
There are just a handful of products that I used up over the last month that I have to talk about! I haven’t used up as many products as I sometimes do on a monthly basis, but I have several different kinds of skincare products as well as a dry shampoo. Here are my thoughts on each of them.
This is a mask I’ve repurchased a couple of times over the last year or two, and as I’m revisiting it now I’ll say a few words about it. For some reason I’ve previously neglected to do so! Catastrophe Cosmetic is a gentle and calming mask formulated to cleanse and sooth skin, and I find that it’s a particularly good choice for the colder months of the year.
