I took a little break from keeping up with empties that I was going through, and I thought now that February is over I’d revisit the products that I’ve used up this winter. I’ve been a little more selective about the empty trash that I keep around so hopefully this is an easier group of things to keep up with and makes for a breezier read. Here are my final thoughts on the makeup and skincare products that deserve one last look before getting tossed out.
Now after finishing up all of those empties I just wrote about, I’ve been making small shopping runs to take advantage of things like post-holiday sales and new releases at the drugstore to replenish. I have some stuff from Sephora, Nature Republic, Vitacost, Whole Foods, Costco, and Duane Reade to share.
Happy October, guys! I have a bundle of skincare and makeup products, plus a few other home bits, that I used up this past month. I have both hits and misses here, some American products, some Korean products, and some cruelty-free products. I’ll quickly talk through what I thought of each one!
I’ve recently moved to a new city and am currently looking for a new job, so theoretically I shouldn’t be shopping. I’ve continued to grab things here and there, though, and so recently I’ve been doing monthly purchase roundups because I tend to end up with a decent pile of new things to share. I’ve bought goodies from Lush, Sephora, Harmons, The Yeon, and CVS and will share some first impressions and swatches.
This past month, I was more successful at keeping empty containers and tracking the products that I finished up! I used of a lot of skincare items, and there are a couple makeup products in the mix as well. There’s a lot of good stuff in the pile that I’m excited to talk about here.
Happy 2015! I wanted to take a moment and talk about some of my favorite products I’ve been using over the past year. I’m starting with makeup picks and then moving on to skincare and body care, and I like the exercise of narrowing a list down to ten – it really makes me focus on the things I was most excited to experience for the first time and continue to reach for on a daily basis.
Lately, I’ve been using Maybelline’s Volum’ Express The Falsies Big Eyes mascara, which is a new one for me. I expected to like it after enjoying the original The Falsies so much and having heard good things about it. I also have really fine, blonde lashes and really liked the idea of having the smaller wand dedicated to defining the lower lashes because I often feel like normal wands deposit way too much mascara on my lower lashes.
I’m back to a more stable life and returning to my monthly empty posts. I finished a lot of products over the summer, and between my recent purchases in Asia and my batch of Derma MD products, I have a lot of new things I’m just started working on. Consequently, these monthly summaries of the products I use up may be a bit shorter than they used to be, but there’s still a handful of products to talk about from October!
I hope you’re having a relaxing Sunday! I have something a little different that I’m excited to share with you today. I was recently contacted by a site called Loverly who asked me come up with makeup looks to pair with dresses that they feature on their wedding planning site. I played around with the website for a bit and found it’s really enjoyable to interact with, and so I had some fun picking out a few dresses and working on color palettes and product picks to go along with them.
I mentioned in my last post about Maybelline’s original Colossal mascara that I had set it aside for a bit in favor of a waterproof mascara while we were traveling in Asia during monsoon season. I had grabbed a similar one, The Colossal Cat Eyes, thinking it’d be fun to compare. This one advertises a “full & spiked” look with a collagen formula and “claw brush”.
