I have the privilege to be able to travel to Asia on a fairly regular basis since my husband’s family lives in Taiwan. For the past few years we have visited them around the holidays, and this was our third year where we decided to stop in Tokyo for a few days before returning home to New York. It’s taken me about that long to get really comfortable with shopping in Tokyo in terms of finding shopping areas I enjoy, trying brands I’m curious about, and identifying products that spark my curiosity. It’s not so much that I had a set shopping list, but that I’ve gotten better at maximizing feelings of fun and success and minimizing feelings of aimlessness and confusion while shopping.
I’m back to a more stable life and returning to my monthly empty posts. I finished a lot of products over the summer, and between my recent purchases in Asia and my batch of Derma MD products, I have a lot of new things I’m just started working on. Consequently, these monthly summaries of the products I use up may be a bit shorter than they used to be, but there’s still a handful of products to talk about from October!
I just wanted to say a few words about this sheet mask I just finished up using last night. My Beauty Diary is one of the big producers of sheet masks and are pretty popular. I originally picked these masks up in a 7-11 at the Taipei airport when I was going to have a day without my checked baggage, including all of my moisturizers, so I thought my skin was going to suffer.
I visited several countries in Asia this summer and have been saving up my purchases to talk about them all together now that I’m back. Asia has some great shopping – the photo above is from Singapore’s Orchard Road, a Vegas-like strip of 27 beautiful shopping malls. I mostly bought skincare because it was my first proper opportunity to try out the Asian brands I hear about every so often on the internet, but there are a few makeup products sprinkled in the mix, as well.
