When it comes to DECIEM skincare, I’ve explored a lot of the affordable options from The Ordinary but it took me a while to try out any of their other product lines. To get started, I jumped on one of the Black Friday bundles that they offered, which was this four-piece hydration skincare set from NIOD. It included the Hydration Vaccine, Fractionated Eye Contour Concentrate, Survival 0, and Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Complex. Later on, I added a couple more things from DECIEM to my collection, including the Hylamide Hydra-Density Mist, and I thought it’d make sense to talk about all five of those products at one time.
Hey, I bought some things a little bit of a discount. Wanna see what I got? I took advantage of sales last week at Sephora and Kiehl’s that happened to begin over the same weekend, which I’m sure was no coincidence. I grabbed a couple of things impulsively, but more than anything I took it as a chance to stock up on the kinds of products that I run through the quickest, in the hopes that I can push off needing to make additional purchases over the next several months.
I have combination skin that’s very prone to dryness and dehydration, particularly around my eyes and cheeks. About two weeks ago my skin started getting hit hard by the changing weather and colder, drier air and I’ve needed to adjust my skincare in a big way. Dry skin generally requires more care than just a heavy face cream, and I’ve developed a handful of strategies for alleviating tight, irritated, and generally sad winter skin. Here are five main ways I approach dry skin, and a bunch of my favorite products I’ve found in each category.
Dr.Ci:Labo Enrich-Lift skincare: Cleansing Cream, Up Lotion, Aqua-Collagen-Gel, UV & White SPF 50+, BB Perfect Cream SPF 40By Erin on February 12, 2017
When I was in Japan, one of the skincare bits I picked up was this little set from Dr.Ci:Labo that includes samples and minis of five different products. This has given me a chance to try out the Cleansing Cream EX, Up Lotion, Aqua-Collagen-Gel EX, UV & White SPF 50+, and the BB Perfect Cream SPF 40, all from the Enrich-Lift product line. This is a doctor-developed brand focused on product efficacy and simplicity, formulated for all skin types including sensitive skin, and the products exclude fragrance, coloring, mineral oil, and parabens.
Over 2016 I generally reduced the amount of cosmetics that I purchased and really scrutinized new releases, which means that a Beauty Loon year-end wrap up can be quite succinct and focused. There were a few specific brands that became new loves for me, so you’ll see some brands repeat in my product picks, and I’ve gone ahead and broken down the favorites into 10 product categories. Ok, let’s go!
I’m going to jump right into talking about more products from Andalou Naturals. Here are a couple of products from their newly released Quenching Coconut line that I was so excited to find at Whole Foods about a month ago and have been itching to talk about: the Coconut Water Firming Toner and Coconut Milk Firming Serum.
Andalou Naturals 1000 Roses skincare: Floral Toner, Absolute Serum, Eye Revive Contour Gel, and Heavenly Night CreamBy Erin on December 13, 2015
I have a pretty good track record with Andalou Naturals products, and their (somewhat) new 1000 Roses line is something I’ve been pretty curious about. Andalou’s products are affordable, natural, and cruelty-free, and the 1000 Roses product line is formulated for those with dry and sensitive skin, which describes my skin more and more these days. After placing a Vitacost order, I’ve been able to try four products from the line over the past few months. I’ll talk through my experiences with the 1000 Roses Floral Toner, Absolute Serum, Eye Revive Contour Gel, and Heavenly Night Cream.
After being away for several weeks, I’m feeling very behind on sharing what products I’ve been trying out. After having been on that trip, however, I definitely have some good stuff that I took with me and have been appreciating. All but one of them are from the drugstore, and I have a little mix of skincare and makeup.
Happy October, guys! I have a bundle of skincare and makeup products, plus a few other home bits, that I used up this past month. I have both hits and misses here, some American products, some Korean products, and some cruelty-free products. I’ll quickly talk through what I thought of each one!
I made my first purchase from Paula’s Choice recently, and was prompted by my quest to clear up my face. My hormones lost control when I quit birth control about a year ago, and my face hasn’t been quite the same since. After chatting with a sales rep on their website, the two Paula’s Choice Clear Blemish Control products I purchased were the 2% salicylic acid exfoliating lotion and the 2.5% benzoyl peroxide daily treatment.
