I have some new stuff I’m trying out thanks to an Ulta 21 Days of Beauty special, the recent Sephora sale, and another shopping trip to Too Cool for School. Of the products I ended up with, maybe half of them were things I’d been really tossing around the digital cart for a while and half were more impulsive purchases. I just read that sentence back and it’s not right, the majority of these things were pretty impulsive. And it was fun to shop.
I’ve been buying some more stuff. A few basics, a few replacements of similar products I’m running out of, and a few nice-to-haves. I’ve been trying a couple of products for a couple of weeks now but most of it is brand new and I’m just starting to try out the different bits. I have some cleansing products and makeup from Sephora, lip colors from MAC, and some natural bath and body from Whole Foods.
I’ve had a small box of makeup set aside for a de-potting project, and I finally got around to buying a few small tools to help me with the job. It’s my first time breaking open my stuff, but I had a few products that I was eager to put in magnetic palettes in order to help me use the shades inside more often.
Over the past year, I did a lot of traveling, moved across the country, and got married, which sometimes got in the way of trying lots of new products. After quitting birth control last fall, I also spent much of the year struggling with new hormonal acne woes, which at times kept me from feeling super motivated when it came to certain kinds of experimentation. However, as I was going through all of the products I tried over the last year I was surprised at how easy it was to identify a bunch of standout products that made a big impact on me and became staples in my collection.
I’ve previously talked about the Too Faced La Crème lipsticks, and I generally intend on expanding my small collection because I really enjoy them a lot. I received the shade Spice Spice Baby for Christmas, which I was so excited about, and thought I’d share some photos of the color.
I went to visit my family on the east coast for Christmas, and had a lot of goodies waiting for me. My boyfriend and I are in the middle of a move and don’t have a permanent address at the moment, so to play it safe I had some purchases sent to my parents’ house for me to pick up when I was in town. My parents also gave me a bunch of really wonderful beauty-related gifts, so I’m excited to go through everything and share some photos.
Happy 2015! I wanted to take a moment and talk about some of my favorite products I’ve been using over the past year. I’m starting with makeup picks and then moving on to skincare and body care, and I like the exercise of narrowing a list down to ten – it really makes me focus on the things I was most excited to experience for the first time and continue to reach for on a daily basis.
I use Too Faced’s Chocolate Soleil bronzer a lot. I’ve mentioned it a time or two on the blog, but I wanted to give it a little more attention and explain why I like it so much. Too Faced has a huge selection of bronzers, and Chocolate Soleil is a classic matte golden brown. While they offer a lighter Milk Chocolate variety, I find that the original works well for me most of the time, even though I have fairly light skin.
I hope you’re having a relaxing Sunday! I have something a little different that I’m excited to share with you today. I was recently contacted by a site called Loverly who asked me come up with makeup looks to pair with dresses that they feature on their wedding planning site. I played around with the website for a bit and found it’s really enjoyable to interact with, and so I had some fun picking out a few dresses and working on color palettes and product picks to go along with them.
Hey, hey – it’s a tag! The Lip Product Addict Tag was started by Estee over at Essie Button, and I was tagged by the lovely Brianna of Glazed Over Beauty. If you haven’t taken a look at her blog before, do it! I absolutely love reading her thoughts, and I’m excited she thought to include me in this. This is a fun tag, so let’s take a moment to talk about some lippies.
