I’ve taken an inadvertent break from the blog but wanted to mention a handful of things I’ve landed on and have been really enjoying. The truth is that while I still buy stuff occasionally, I’m not doing it with the same hunger and frequency as I have in the past. That means I’m sitting with each product over a longer and more consistent period of time, and really trying to use things up before moving on. Here are about 10 skincare, makeup, and hair care products I’ve had great luck with and are very fond of right now.
This past week, I spotted the new limited edition nail polishes from Wet n Wild and a shade with multicolored glitter called “At the After Party” caught my eye (you can read about the collection on Nouveau Cheap). They’re only $2.99, so it was an easy buy. I already had a couple of coats of a Marc Jacobs shade called “Sally” on my nails, which is a very dark green, so this combination has turned out to be my version of holiday nails (despite the lack of red or gold). I also reached for Essie’s “No Chips Ahead” top coat afterwards for a little extra shine in addition to protection against chips.
This is the second palette from Wet n Wild’s Pop Art Craze collection that I’ve had the opportunity to try. Compared to Hard Being the It Girl (review), I expected this one to even brighter, but it’s actually well suited for a softer look. The colors themselves are very pretty, but none of them can live up to that vibrant blue in Hard Being the It Girl in pigmentation and intensity.
I’ve seen the new Wet n Wild Pop Art Craze eye shadow trios here and there on the internet, but it always feels like it takes a while for these limited edition products to show up in my local drugstores. A couple of days ago I was just strolling through a Walgreens, about to walk out, when I noticed a mostly empty display sitting lower than knee-level under an unused sales desk in the cosmetics section. It was a Pop Art Craze display that looked like it could have held around 25 of the little trios, and there were just two left. Luckily for me, they were two different shades and I liked the look of both of them.
