Summer’s on its way out, and I just wanted to say a few quick words about a sun protection product I loved using over the past few months. Sun Defense SPF 30 by B. Kamins Laboratories was one of the sun protection products I received over the summer in my Sample Society subscription boxes, and it wins the prize for being my favorite sun protection product that I used throughout the season.

A few of its great qualities:

– Fragrance-free (doesn’t even smell like sunscreen)
– Oil-free
– Smooth to apply
– Lightweight
– Doesn’t leave a white cast
– Can be used for face or body
– Wears wonderfully under makeup
– Doesn’t make me feel oily or sticky
– Not tested on animals

B. Kamins says that their Sun Defense lotions (available in SPF 30 and 48, as well as an SPF 15 spray) are enriched with açai oil, pomegranate extract, and Vitamins A, C, and E to help protect skin. They’re labeled as appropriate for all skin types, including sensitive skin. I don’t have particularly sensitive skin, myself, but I didn’t have any problems at all with irritation or breaking out when using this lotion. I usually wore this under makeup, and it wouldn’t negatively affect the appearance or longevity of my makeup in the least. The lotion is a pale pink, and Beauty Bar even notes that it has color-correcting properties and primes skin for makeup. I hadn’t put too much thought in evaulating the product from that angle, but I’d say that it really did help my skin look a little better when I went without foundation. I can’t say much about how it works as a primer, since I’d generally follow it up with an actual primer that helped me control oil. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, this lotion did see it’s share of sunny vacation days, and I had no issues with burning or uneven protection.
