I’ve had another Nordstrom Rack discovery, which is this Smashbox Cherry Smoke eyeshadow palette from their fall 2014 collection. I had my eye on this when it was more readily available but didn’t feel like I had the spare $39 on hand, so I was really pretty excited when I saw it discounted to $19.97 a month or two after it disappeared from Sephora. It’s a smoky set of colors that’s perfectly aligned with Pantone’s 2015 color of the year, Marsala.
I did drop into another Nordstrom Rack a week or two later and that particular location didn’t have the eyeshadow palette but did carry the two lipsticks that Smashbox released in their Cherry Smoke collection, so those are out there, as well. There’s a red shade and a copper shade, and I think they were being sold for right around $10 each.
I have some quick swatches of the eyeshadows to share.
The first two shades on the left side of my arm are the two larger pans on the left side of the palette, Bare and Unadorned. The rest of the shades follow from left to right, top to bottom in the palette. While the swatches show the colors I’m not sure they give you the best impression of their textures (I made them quickly!), but my first thoughts after using the shadows with an actual brush were really positive.
I just used the palette on my eyes for the first time today and just wanted to do a quick and easy daytime sort of look, and reached for those two larger pans on the left, Bare and Unadorned, and found them to be soft, pigmented, and easy to diffuse on my eyes.
Here, I’m also wearing the Sephora Collection Teint Infusion Ethereal Natural Finish Foundation in 20 Cream, Physicians Formula Oh So Radiant! Powder, Clinique Cheek Pop in Ginger Pop (swatch), Too Faced Chocolate Soleil (review) on my face and in my brows, and L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Intenza mascara (review).
I’ll speak more to the quality of the other shadows and share additional photos in future posts, I just haven’t gotten there just yet. I was just excited about the deal and getting my hands on a palette that I thought I’d missed out on! Have you found any exciting deals lately?
