It’s buying season and I recently ordered some of the special releases from Colourpop, including the My Little Pony eyeshadow palette ($16), My Little Pony Super Shock Eyeshadow in Posey ($5), and the Element of Surprise eyeshadow palette ($16). Both of these collections feature very attractive shades and there are definitely some really interesting shadows in both. Beyond that, I continue to be really pleased with the quality of Colourpop eyeshadows.
I didn’t jump at the My Little Pony collection when it was first released, despite having owned an actual collection of My Little Ponies when I was young. I eventually threw these two items in my cart when the colors wore me down, though. They’re both pretty and, hopefully, still quite useful even though the colors are on the whimsical side.
This color scheme of the palette has the potential to go a little clownish on me, so I will be keeping some neutrals on hand as I start to reach for the palette to help tone things down. I think the colors are really pretty, though.
I had some trouble capturing this shadow in Posey properly. It’s kind of sheer with a really lovely pale pink-to-peach luminosity. Colourpop says it’s a “soft pinky beige with silver, gold and pink glitter.”
This one I bought up much quicker once it was released, because it’s exactly the kind of palette I enjoy buying: it’s made up of about 50% useful neutrals, and about 50% fun colors that give it a unique flavor. What’s more, some of less exciting shades at first glance still have some interesting qualities. For example, the fourth shade (top right in the palette) has a warm neutral base but also an icy aqua shift.
I’m excited to have these colors kicking around in my collection now and I think Colourpop has created some really nice stuff recently.
Did you grab these, or other items from Colourpop’s recent releases? Let me know what you think about them!
